Dr. Janet Tanega, our dentist in Pleasanton, CA, received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.D.M.)/Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) at Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines, in 1988. Upon arriving in the United States, Dr. Tanega worked as a dental assistant for several years as she studied to obtain her California Dental License. With the future of her family in mind, Dr. Tanega made all the necessary sacrifices, and in 1996, she received the California Dental License. But this accomplishment was only a stepping-stone in her climb to success. In March of 1997, Dr. Tanega’s dream came true when she opened Tanega Professional Dental Corporation in South San Francisco. Her successful practice growth over the 16 years of practicing dentistry gave Dr. Tanega recognition on KRON 4, Best of the Bay edition, as San Mateo County’s best general dentist.

In order to provide her patients with the best service possible, Dr. Tanega regularly attends multiple seminars a year to continue her education in general, orthodontic, and cosmetic dentistry, as well as implant surgery. She is a seasoned expert in the practice of orthodontics (among other services) and has been practicing orthodontics since 1998. In 2012, she became a certified preferred provider for Clear Aligners.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tanega enjoys spending quality time with her husband of 31 years, Richard, and their four children - Helene, Richard Jr., Reece, and Raymond. She is also a proud grandmother to Darien, Jeffrey Jr., and Jayda-Rae. Her family also includes three beloved dogs: Coco, Wags, and Bella.
